Abstract

This book traces the history of the Tunisian communist movement from its creation in 1921 to the 2019 elections. The author examines the various branches of the Marxist left (Tunisian Communist Party, "New Left," Popular Front) without bias. The work highlights the role of women, the importance of international solidarity (particularly the support of French communists), and the struggles against the established power. A significant section is devoted to the events of 2010-2011, where the author questions the nature of the movement (revolution or insurrection) and the reasons for the failure of the revolutionary process.
